Abstract
Melanotic neuroectodermal tumor of infancy (MNTI) which was first described by Krompecher is a rare neoplasm. The vast majority develop within the first year of life and it is currently thought to be a neoplasm of neural crest derivation. The clinical course is generally benign. But the local recurrence rate is generally 15-20%, and metastases have been documented in a few cases. MNTI arises in the head and neck in 91.8%, mainly in the maxilla (68.6%). But other sites, such as the epididymis, mediastinum, shoulder, and uterus may rarely be involved. And only one case of MNTI was reported in a long bone such as femur by Johnson. We report a case of MNTI together with a review of literature, which occurred in the femur of a five-month-old boy.
